You should be starting your reaction to Jeff Koons--it is due in your IWB on Wednesday at the end of class. Please look at the following printmaking tutorial and links to linoleum prints, so you will get an idea of what printmaking can be! On Tuesday we will be creating drawings to transfer to Linoleum. Lino Carving Step by Step Google Images for Lino Prints Consider what kind of drawing you want to create next week, have your idea ready to present to Mrs. Rudd in class Monday. 9/17:Create a two page spread in your IWB in reaction to Jeff Koons. You should review the Art Analysis Paper, create a written analyzation (use the example to help you), and then decide what type of REACTION you'd like to create. It could be a visual map of ideas, a piece of artwork, a written reaction using visual examples from Jeff Koons, or any other reaction you can think of that will meet the following expectations: Cultural/Contextual research- Analyzed, considered, compared and reflected upon art from other cultures or time periods. Find out how all artwork is interrelated. 1. Artwork analysis and vocabulary: a. Respond to and analyze critically and contextually the function, meaning and artistic qualities of past, present and emerging art. i. What does this mean? 1. Context is the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed. 2. Function is an activity or purpose natural to or intended for a person or thing. b. Develop and present independent ideas. Demonstrate coherent, focused and individual investigative strategies. i. What does this mean? 1. You cannot use the first idea that pops into your head—this has been thought of many times before and is usually cliché. 2. You must strive for new, original concepts and showcase them in the IWB. Vocabulary- using the proper academic and artistic terminology to refer to your work and works of others. Look at your elements and principles page, look at the composition rules and the vocabulary list. Look at the analyzation step-by-step sheet I have just given you for art terms. Acknowledgement of Source- As in all of your coursework in this high school, it is important that you cite the sources and origins of the work you do in the class, accurately and consistently. We will use the Chicago Citation format, a reference guide link is posted on web site. Presentation- effective and creative writing, thoughtful and well-documented work. Excellent craftsmanship at all times.
