DWB Assignments One Per Month (for a total of 10 assignments).
The DWB is a work in progress. It demonstrates how your studio ideas have developed from investigation related to the work of cultural, historical, and contemporary art works. DWBs will be collected every three to four weeks. You are expected to bring your DWB to school everyday as it could be used to record notes in other subject areas that might relate to your personal art work. If you are asked to submit your DWB and do not have it, you will earn 0 points for this score.
One of the following research activities must be completed each month. You will explore each question over the course of the year (no doubling up on assignments).
Artist Research
1. Compare/Contrast art works by a single artist. Pick an artist to review based on what you are currently interested in visually, conceptually or technically. How does this artist relate to one of the learner profile traits? Support your answer with documentation.
2. Look at the life of an artist and explore the relationship between their personal and professional life. What artists did they admire, and is that influence evident in the work. How did the time in which the artist lived influence the work created? How does this artist relate to one of the learner profile traits? Support your answer with documentation.
3. Compare/Contrast the work of different artists. This research could center upon artists interested in the same subject matter, or technique. How do these artists relate to one or more of the learner profile traits?
4. Create a visual reaction to the information learned from a single artist. Your artistic piece could be inspired by your research, an alteration of the artist’s work, or a visual representation of the most important components of your learning. Relate your piece to a learner profile trait.
Cultural Research
5. Compare/Contrast artwork within a single culture. Pick a culture to review based on what you are currently interested in visually, conceptually or technically.
6. Look at the culture and explore how the traditions and belief systems influenced the work created?
7. Compare/Contrast the work between different cultures. This research could center upon cultures interested in the same subject matter, or technique.
Historical Art Research
