What is the DWB?
The developmental workbook is a tool that allows learners to manage the processes of their own arts experience and artistic development. The intended use of the developmental workbook is to encourage and record experimentation and critical thinking. It provides an opportunity for both written and non-verbal reflection. Care must be taken to ensure that the developmental workbook is not just a diary of events but rather an evolving reflection on the artistic process, accomplishments and journey of the student artist. Learners are also encouraged to include notes or artifacts about arts they have experienced out of school, for example, gallery visits, performances and productions they have seen or been part of, all of which contribute to their understanding of the arts subject in its wider context. Format The format for the developmental workbook is bound with unlined pages, rather than loose-leaf. Entries must be dated and kept in chronological order. Pages must be numbered for cross-referencing ideas, themes or issues that run through the developmental workbook. Learners should be advised that legibility is extremely important. Blue-black or black ink is required for writing. |
